Since 1798 J C Rennie has produced woollen yarn for some of the most important fashion houses in the world. Mention an important fashion brand, and they will be familiar with the Lambswool and Shetland qualities made famous by the Rennie mill, and the fantastic Scottish shades and melanges that make the Rennie yarn so special.

Every year Rennie sends hundreds of tons of yarn to industrial knitters and weavers throughout the world, to be made into fashion garments which can be regularly found in branded shops in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany and Japan.

J C Rennie is a woollen spinner which differs from worsted spinning, which uses a method of producing straight fibers in the yarn to produce a flat cloth. In contrast woollen spinning retains the natural crimp and air in the fibre which makes it ideal for knitwear and traditional woollen fabric, giving it a more lofty, three-dimensional character, and retaining the natural insulating properties of wool. This is a far cry from the flat cone dyed yarn often found in the market today.
